Vintage Repoussé Brass Trinket Box Hand Embossed Griffin Bird Ornate Keepsake Box Aged Patina

Striking vintage brass trinket or keepsake box featuring exceptionally detailed repoussé and hand-worked decoration on nearly every surface. The lid features a dramatic raised mythical griffin-like creature surrounded by deeply worked scrolling foliage. Ornate floral and foliate panels continue around the sides, while the underside reveals another wonderful detail—a large hand-engraved bird motif surrounded by geometric decoration. The interior of the lid also carries raised decorative work, making this an especially interesting piece from every angle. The brass has developed a rich, naturally aged patina with darkened areas, oxidation, verdigris, spotting, scratches and variations in finish. The interior shows considerable age-related darkening and wear. It has not been polished, preserving the character and patina acquired over time.
