Antique French FBS Porcelain Jewelry Casket Hand Painted Ferdinand Bing Gilt Metal Footed Dresser Box
Beautiful antique French hand-painted porcelain jewelry casket, attributed to Ferdinand Bing & Co. Successors (FBS) and believed to date to the early 20th century.
This substantial rectangular dresser box features a romantic pastoral scene on the lid surrounded by ornate raised gilt decoration. Elaborate gold-tone metal mounts frame the porcelain, with decorative corner feet, detailed trim and a front clasp.
The interior is white porcelain decorated with delicate hand-painted floral bouquets in pink, red and green. The underside bears a worn FBS-style maker’s mark with “HAND PAINTED” visible. Because portions of the mark have faded with age, the Ferdinand Bing attribution is based on the surviving mark and comparison with documented FBS pieces rather than presented as a definitive identification.
Approximate measurements:
• 9” long
• 4” wide
• Approximately 3½”–4” tall
Condition
Antique condition with age-related wear and patina consistent with its age. There is wear/discoloration to portions of the porcelain, gilt decoration and metal mounts, along with surface marks and fading to the underside maker’s mark.
There is a small gap/separation between the porcelain lid and the metal mounting along one side, shown clearly in the close-up photograph. No attempt has been made to repair or alter this area.
Please review all photographs carefully, including the close-up, as they are considered part of the condition description.
A beautiful larger-format antique porcelain casket with wonderful decorative presence for a vanity, dresser or collection.
