Antique Barbour Silver Co Repousse Box 3946 Dutch Tavern Silverplate Wood Lined

Beautiful antique Barbour Silver Co. silver-plated repoussé table box, pattern 3946, covered in remarkably detailed Dutch tavern and village scenes. Every side and the domed lid feature raised figural decoration with people in period dress, interior scenes, a spinning wheel, architectural details, flowers and elaborate scrolling ornamentation. The hinged lid opens to reveal a striking gold-tone embossed scene on the underside of the lid and an original-looking wood-lined compartment. The underside is stamped with the Barbour S.P. Co. / International S. Co. maker’s mark and 3946 pattern number. The underside shows particularly noticeable finish wear. The wood interior has scratches, marks and discoloration from previous use.
